Ready, Step, GO! Printable Game - FREE

$0.00

🎲 Gamify your primer students’ lessons with this FREE interval game all about STEPS and REPEATS on the staff!

Players: 2-4, Ages 4+

🎹 Skills/Objectives:

  • students differentiate between line and space notes on the staff

  • students identify steps up, steps down, and repeated notes on the staff

🎲 Materials:

  • Game cards printed double-sided (cardstock recommended)

  • (there are two pages of step ups - this is intentional, to balance the game towards an ending)

  • Playing tokens (one per player, not provided in download) Suggestions include: coins, small erasers, or pom pom balls

  • Piano keyboard, piano floor-mat, or (optional) printed game boards

♫ How to Play:

  • Each student and teacher should choose one playing token. Place all tokens on the lowest white key of the keyboard. You may play the game on the piano, a floor-mat keyboard, or the printable game board in this game download.

  • Shuffle all cards and place in a pile face down.

  • Players take turns flipping over the top card of the deck. It does not matter what notes are shown on the card. We are only looking for whether the notes go up or down. (If this is confusing for your student, use the non-keyboard game board)

  • If the card shows a STEP UP, move your token forward one white key.

  • If the card shows a STEP DOWN, move your token backward one white key.

  • If the card shows a REPEATED note, you get another turn! Flip over another card!

  • The first player who gets to the end of the keyboard is the winner. You cannot fall off the lowest key of the keyboard. If you are on the lowest key and draw a STEP DOWN, stay on the lowest key.

  • If you run out of cards, shuffle the used cards and continue until one player has reached the end of the keyboard.

**This resource does NOT include any pom-poms or other tokens you may use on the piano keyboard.
